A New Chapter in Chandina’s History: Youth Icon Atikul Alam Shaon Heads to Parliament for the First Time

A new and glorious chapter has begun in the political history of Cumilla’s Chandina Upazila. Ending a long wait and backed by massive public support, the beloved leader of the people and icon of the youth, Mr. Atikul Alam Shaon, is heading to the National Parliament for the first time. In the 13th National Parliamentary Election held on February 12, he secured an unprecedented victory by defeating experienced and heavyweight candidates by a significant margin. His win has sparked a wave of joy across the Upazila, igniting new hope among the general public.

According to the analysis of the election results, independent candidate Atikul Alam Shaon (Kols/Pitcher symbol) won the Cumilla-7 seat by a margin of 42,894 votes. He polled 90,819 votes, while his nearest rival, Redwan Ahmed of the BNP (Sheaf of Paddy symbol), received 47,925 votes. General voters believe this is not just an individual’s victory, but a triumph for the rights of the common people of Chandina and their long-standing desire for change. Due to his clean political image, honesty, and constant presence by the side of the people in times of joy and sorrow, he has quickly become an icon for the younger generation.

In a brief post-victory reaction, the newly elected Member of Parliament, Mr. Atikul Alam Shaon, stated that this victory is a reflection of the love of the people of Chandina. He pledged to work until his last breath to uphold the dignity of the sacred trust bestowed upon him by the citizens. He further added that, regardless of party affiliation, he intends to build a modern, terror-free, and developed Chandina where the voice of the common people will be paramount.

Following the announcement of the results, people took to the streets in every neighborhood, from the Chandina Municipality to every union.
