"Research Week 2026" will be held from June 28 to July 2 at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU). Organized by the university's Research and Extension Center, the initiative aims to enhance the research skills of teachers and students, encourage high-quality research, and raise awareness regarding the effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research.
At a press conference held on Wednesday (June 24), the university's Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the Research Management Board, Professor Dr. Mohammed Musharof Hossain, stated that the excellence of a university in the modern world is determined by its quality of research, innovative capabilities, and continuity of knowledge creation. He expressed hope that Research Week 2026 will play a crucial role in transforming the university into a more research-oriented institution.
According to sources from the Research and Extension Center, various five-day training workshops and seminars have been organized to mark the occasion. In collaboration with the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), training workshops will be conducted on SPSS, Stata, NVivo, and Python-based machine learning. Additionally, seminars will be organized on higher education and scholarships abroad, research and academic writing, publication strategies in high-impact journals, and the use of artificial intelligence in research. A research idea competition and special online sessions will also be featured.
The Research and Extension Center was established on September 23, 2023, following a decision made during the university's 43rd Syndicate meeting. Since its inception, the center has funded 953 research projects at a cost of approximately BDT 16.61 crore. The outcomes of these projects have been published in various renowned national and international journals.
Students interested in participating in the Research Week seminars must register via a Google Form. Registration opens on June 24 at 9:00 PM. The university authorities have stated that since the seating capacity for several offline seminars is limited to 80, opportunities to participate will be granted on a "first-come, first-served" basis. However, no registration will be required for teachers.
