I have to leave after February, I want to do something for people

We have to leave after February, but before that, we want to do something for the people of the country, said the interim government's financial advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.

He said these things at the Tax Representative Management System (TRMS) software inauguration ceremony at the National Board of Revenue's multipurpose hall on Sunday (September 14) morning. NBR Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan presided over the event.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said, I asked the NBR Chairman whether we will be able to see the benefits? Because, we have to leave after February, should we see some before that? The chief advisor often tells me, we contribute something. Contribution means a lot outside, this is that... many people don't even see it with their eyes. Even if they do, nothing is happening. Today I saw in some newspaper... I won't mention the name, it says despair everywhere, it seems he doesn't see any hope. I don't know if he does.

He also said, so we want to do something for the people. Because, the next government will take some time to understand. And there is also a matter of goodwill. If we can show a ray of hope in Bangladesh at least to some extent, that will be our goal.

The advisor said to tax lawyers, there is a lot of harassment in the service sector. So many people are fooled. I myself often… sometimes I say… Hey, don't give it. I tell the driver to tell me to get a driving license, don't delay. So that people can get rid of these. Do a little service. People want service. No one is stingy in paying for good service.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, praising everyone for the entire TRMS process being in the country, said that the habit of hiring foreign organizations for these tasks has become more common. Those who come from outside try to sell their country's equipment.

Stating that such activities are beneficial for everyone, he said that it is beneficial for those who will collect taxes, not only at the individual level or company level. How many types of papers do you have to write when collecting. But later, many thank yous are given.

NBR Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan said that from next year, corporate tax filing will be made completely online. Tax apps will be developed this year itself. If the tax collection process is digitized, it will be possible to automate audit selection and audit process.

Bangladesh Tax Lawyers Association President Advocate Ramiz Uddin Ahmed, Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) President Mahtab Uddin and Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh President M Nasimul Hai were present as special guests at the event.
