BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the proportional representation (PR) system will not fully reflect the rights of the people in elections. The people of Bangladesh are not familiar with this system.
He spoke to reporters at the airport on Tuesday (August 19) evening after returning home from Bangkok after undergoing medical treatment. He said that he is now healthy after the treatment.
Mirza Fakhrul said that there is no alternative to national elections for political and economic liberation. The people of the country want elections and the only way to solve the crisis is early elections.
Regarding the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections, he said that the expectation is that the elections should be conducted fairly and beautifully with the participation of all.
In addition, the BNP Secretary General commented on the parties that do not want to reform, saying that this is their party's matter.
