The parties will receive the final draft of the July Charter within a day or two, preparations for signing are underway

The consensus commission has held three long discussions with political parties for almost seven months. In these discussions, arguments for and against and incidents like walkouts created the atmosphere of the parliament. In the end, the parties reached a consensus on 84 proposals by objecting to some issues or giving notes of dissent.

But despite reaching a consensus, complications arose over the method of implementing the July Charter. In the last meeting of the commission on October 8, almost all parties agreed to hold a referendum on the day of voting to implement the charter.

The July Charter signing ceremony will be held on October 17 at the South Plaza of the Parliament Building. The government has invited the parties participating in the commission meeting to send two representatives to the ceremony. What do the political parties think about that invitation?

The leaders of the Democracy Mancha have expressed their interest in signing the charter, but the NCP leaders have said that they will take a final decision after looking at the draft.

Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque said that every party of the Democracy Mancha will participate in the July Charter signing ceremony. This is an important chapter in history. This will be a milestone in moving forward with dissent.

In this regard, NCP joint convener Sarwar Tushar said that NCP is positive about signing the July Charter. However, a final decision will be taken after seeing the draft and implementation methods of the Charter.

Meanwhile, Mamunul Haque's Khilafat Majlis is agitating together with Jamaat over the legal basis of the July Charter.

Khilafat Majlis Chairman Mamunul Haque said, we will sign the July Charter. But if necessary, the legal basis of the Charter will be achieved through agitation before the elections.

On the other hand, BNP has been suggesting that the consensus proposals be issued through an ordinance from the beginning. In addition, the party has also recommended that the recommendations related to the constitution be kept in the parliament. Nevertheless, two members of the party are going to sign the Charter on the day of the election, agreeing to the referendum proposal.

Ismail Zabiullah, a member of the BNP delegation regarding the Consensus Commission, said that BNP, like various political parties, has been invited to the July Charter signing ceremony. Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul and Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed will go there on behalf of the party.

Consensus Commission sources said that some amendments have been made to the pledge in the July charter. The final draft of the charter will be sent to the political parties in a day or two.
