Anti-Corruption Debate Competition and Prize Distribution Held in Fhulbaria

An anti-corruption debate competition and prize distribution ceremony was held in Fulbaria, Mymensingh, under the slogan "Together we will build the country, a corruption-free Bangladesh."

The Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee and the District Anti-Corruption Commission organized the event at the Upazila Parishad hall room on Tuesday (June 23) morning. They were supported by the local administration and the Secondary Education Office.

Fulbaria Government Model Pilot High School and Palashihata Multipurpose High School participated in the debate. The topic was: "Social movement is more effective than law enforcement in preventing corruption."

Palashihata Multipurpose High School, arguing against the motion, won the competition.

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sheikh Taki Tajwar attended as the chief guest. The event was chaired by Alhaj Aftab Uddin, president of the Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee.

During his speech, Sheikh Taki Tajwar stated that corruption can only be stopped if people remain active regarding both law enforcement and social movements.

Mohammad Zulfikar, Deputy Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission's Integrated District Office, spoke as a special guest. He noted that we can excel in all areas simply by doing our respective jobs properly and to the best of our abilities.

Secondary Education Officer Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan also spoke as a special guest, adding that following religious values makes it easier to prevent corruption.

Other speakers included journalist Md. Nurul Islam Khan, former general secretary of the Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee, and Mufti Ashraful Alam, imam and khatib of the Model Mosque. Md. Nazrul Islam, the current general secretary of the committee, hosted the program.

At the end of the event, the guests presented a special championship crest to the winning team from Palashihata Multipurpose High School. The runners-up from Fulbaria Government Model Pilot High School also received awards, alongside prizes for the best debater and other participants.

The judging panel and moderators included Assistant Primary Education Officer Mohammad Mosharaf Hossain, Government Women's College lecturer Riaz Uddin Ahmed, Islamia College lecturer Ziaul Haque, and Mobarak Khan College lecturer Matiur Rahman Matin Sheikh.
