Drive by the upazila administration to free Chandina Bazar from illegal structures and footpath encroachments.

The Upazila Administration has conducted a special eviction drive to remove illegal structures and free footpaths from encroachment to ensure smooth movement for the general public in Chandina Bazar, Comilla. The drive was carried out on Thursday afternoon (October 8) under the leadership of Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) K M Injarul Haque. Chandina Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nuruzzaman, along with other administration officials and police personnel, was present during the operation.

For a long time, various important roads and footpaths in Chandina Bazar had been occupied by local influential traders and hawkers, causing immense suffering to general pedestrians and shoppers. Although the administration had previously issued warnings for a permanent solution, the eviction drive was launched after those warnings were ignored. During the operation, illegal structures, makeshift shops, and various obstructions disrupting market discipline along both sides of the main roads and alleys of the market were removed.

Speaking during the drive, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) K M Injarul Haque stated that ensuring normal public movement and easing traffic congestion are among the top priorities. There is no scope for creating public suffering by occupying footpaths, and such drives in the public interest will continue regularly. Local conscious citizens and regular pedestrians expressed relief at the timely step taken by the administration and demanded that this momentum be maintained.
