There will be no 'note of dissent' in the July charter: Nahid Islam

National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said that there will be no 'note of dissent' in the July Charter. What we have reached a consensus on will remain; the rest will depend on the people's decision. It will be implemented in the way the people decide. He expressed hope that if the legal basis for the July Charter is created, it will be possible to move towards elections quickly.

He said these things at the University Teachers Forum (UTF) debut and discussion meeting at the Kabi Shamsur Rahman Conference Room of the Bangla Academy on Friday (November 7) afternoon.

Nahid Islam said that in the next election, all those who are partners in the mass uprising must be in the parliament. The work of the new constitution will begin by forming a reform council in that parliament. The participation of teachers is very necessary there. NCP wants to ensure that participation.

He also said that in the next parliament and reform council, the youth, teachers, scholars, women, minorities and various professionals will all work together to implement the path of the July Charter. Before that, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus must give an order for a 'referendum' based on the July Charter.

At the event, University Teachers Forum Convener Professor Md. Sirajul Islam and Member Secretary Professor Shamim Hamidi read out the declaration.
