National Citizens Party (NCP) Joint Chief Coordinator and Co-Education Secretary Mahabub Alam has purchased nomination forms to contest elections from Chandpur-5 constituency.
He collected the nomination forms from the party's temporary head office at Bangla Motor in the capital on Thursday (November 13) evening. Chandpur-5 constituency (No. 264 of the National Assembly) consists of Hajiganj and Shahrasti upazilas.
BNP has received its primary nomination from Md. Mominul Haque, while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has named Professor Md. Abul Hossain as its possible candidate.
Mahabub Alam was born in Pratappur village of Hajiganj upazila in Chandpur in 1997. He completed his graduation and post-graduation from the history department of Jahangirnagar University and obtained his second post-graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in India. He is currently teaching at a private university. His interest lies in researching political history. Mahabub Alam has served as the president and general secretary of the Jahangirnagar University Journalists Association and has worked in various media outlets in the country.
In addition, his first book, 'NCPir Jatra', written about the political party NCP, is set to be published on November 15.
