BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said, we have to fight to save our country. We have to get out of our homes and reach out to the people. If we cannot fight, our country will be destroyed. We have to participate in this war for the people.
He made this appeal to the party leaders and activists in a virtual speech from London at an event organized by BNP with the leaders and activists of the Jubo Dal at the KIB auditorium in the capital titled 'Plan for Building the Nation'.
Tarique Rahman said, so far, no political party has given a plan to run Bangladesh in the future, only BNP has given it. We have to make the sheaf of rice win in the next election. There is no alternative to this.
He said, if we want to wage jihad against corruption, everyone has to come forward. The government will make every effort to curb corruption, but the mentality has to change. We have to get the people's verdict and support in the upcoming elections. If you open newspapers and television, there are various debates, whether it is good or bad. The people of the country are tired of hearing such debates of political parties. People want to know, they want to see what any political party can give them.
Regarding the deterioration of the human rights situation during the previous Awami League government, he further said, I do not want, none of us want, human rights to be violated in anyone's life as they were during the Awami League's rule.
Tarique Rahman said, the right to live is innate. Everyone will be given the opportunity to live with dignity.
Regarding the women, agriculture and education plans, he said, 'Family Card' will be introduced to empower women economically. We want to empower women across the country in phases. This will create a strong economic base. The acting chairman of BNP said that emphasis should be placed on increasing agricultural exports.
Regarding changes in the education system, he said, we want to build an education system where students can be proficient in a third language along with English.
Tarique Rahman said, we will not go for any mega projects, it leads to corruption. We will spend money on education, health and human resource development. If BNP comes to power, 1 million health workers will be appointed. Of which 80 to 85 percent will be women.
He also mentioned that if we can start working now to control the country's population, the country will benefit after the next 10 years.
Regarding sports and urban planning, Tarique Rahman said, the three ministries of education, health and sports will work together throughout the year. There are no playgrounds in the suffocating city. We will build playgrounds by buying land at market rates from each ward.
The meeting, chaired by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, was also attended by the party's Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, Advisor to the Chairperson Dr. Ziauddin Haider, Advisor to the Acting Chairman Dr. Mahdi Amin, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aminul Haque, Krishak Dal president Hasan Zafir Tuhin, Jubo Dal president Abdul Monayem Munna, and Swechchhasebak Dal president SM Jilani.
