A local leader of Matsyajeebi Dal has joined Jamaat-e-Islami after performing an unusual symbolic act in Bauphal, Patuakhali.Jalal Hawlader, acting president of the Bogha Union unit of Matsyajeebi Dal, left his party and formally joined Jamaat-e-Islami on Monday (January 26). The joining ceremony was held at around 7:00 pm at the Bogha Government Primary School ground.The event was attended by Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, the Dari Palla (scales) symbol candidate for the Patuakhali-2 (Bauphal) constituency. During the programme, Dr. Masud poured a pot of milk over Jalal Hawlader as part of a ceremonial milk bath marking his entry into Jamaat-e-Islami.Following the ceremony, Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud addressed the gathering as the chief guest at the joining meeting held on the school premises.Leaders and activists present at the event included Jahidul Islam, member secretary of the local Swechchhasebak Dal unit, Faruk Sharif, general secretary of the Labour Wing, and Bogha Yakub Sharif, among others.
