Following a thrilling Round of 16, only eight teams remain in the 2026 World Cup. Teams including Brazil, Portugal, the United States, Mexico, and Canada have been eliminated. After a one-day break, the battle for the last eight now begins.
France, Morocco, Spain, Belgium, Norway, England, Argentina, and Switzerland have all secured their places in the quarterfinals. Each of the four matches comes with its own distinct storyline a repeat of the 2022 World Cup semifinal, a clash of European powerhouses, and paths for the likes of Messi and Haaland to either defend a title or write history.
In the first quarterfinal, France will face Morocco at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. The match kicks off at 2:00 AM (Bangladesh time) on Friday, July 10. France defeated Morocco in the 2022 World Cup semifinal, and four years later, the two sides meet again at the same stage.
In the second quarterfinal, Spain will take on Belgium at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, with kick-off at 1:00 AM (Bangladesh time) on Saturday, July 11. Spain reached this stage by beating Portugal in the Round of 16, while Belgium advanced after a 4-1 win over the United States.
In the third quarterfinal, Norway will face England at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, with the match starting at 3:00 AM (Bangladesh time) on Sunday, July 12. Norway's confidence is riding high after their win over Brazil, while England reached the quarterfinals with a hard-fought victory over Mexico.
The most keenly watched match will be Argentina vs. Switzerland at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, kicking off at 7:00 AM (Bangladesh time) on Sunday, July 12. Reigning champions Argentina reached the quarterfinals by coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Egypt, while Switzerland secured their place in the last eight by beating Colombia on penalties.
The winners of these four matches will advance to the semifinals. The quarterfinals, therefore, carry not just big names but big storylines. Will Messi's Argentina move one step closer to defending their title, or will Switzerland write a new chapter in history? Will France stop Morocco once again, or will the African side take revenge for their defeat four years ago? The answers will unfold over the four nights of the quarterfinals.
