Taking an initiative by the youth society of Mehar village in Chandina, Cumilla, 600 palmyra palm seeds have been planted along a 4-kilometer stretch of road to protect against natural disasters like lightning strikes. This initiative was implemented across a total of four kilometers, starting from the west side of Mehar Nazor Mahmud Haji's house along the road leading to the CARE road, and extending up to the point from the east side of the deep tubewell where the road connects to the Gajaria road. A group of enthusiastic youths, led by Delwar Hossain from Mehar village, completed the palm seed planting work on a voluntary basis. This exceptional plan was primarily undertaken to protect the rural populace from the severe risks of climate-induced natural disasters and lightning, as well as to maintain ecological balance. The conscious local community has highly praised such welfare-oriented and eco-friendly initiatives by the local youth.
