Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has made three changes to the starting lineup for the World Cup Round of 16 match against Egypt. The most eye-catching change comes in attack, with Lautaro Martinez benched and Julian Alvarez starting alongside Lionel Messi.
The lineup announced ahead of Tuesday's match in Atlanta also sees the return of Nicolas Tagliafico and Leandro Paredes. Tagliafico starts in place of Facundo Medina, while Paredes comes into midfield in place of Thiago Almada.
Argentina faced a tough test against Cape Verde in the previous round, with the reigning champions winning 3-2 in a match that went to extra time to reach the Round of 16. Egypt, meanwhile, reached this stage after a 1-1 draw with Australia, winning 4-2 on penalties.
Egypt coach Hossam Hassan has also made two changes to his lineup, with forward Haitham Hassan and midfielder Mohanad Lashin starting in place of Omar Marmoush and Hamdi Fathi.
The winner of this match will face the winner of the Switzerland vs. Colombia match in the quarterfinals.
