3 Houses Burgled Nightly in Chandina: Gold and Cash Stolen

A daring burglary took place in a single night at three separate brick houses in Chandina, Cumilla, after locks were broken.

The incident occurred on Friday late night (September 11) in Audhata village of Maizkhar Union and Kongai village of Gallai Union under Chandina upazila.

Paritosh Paul, a rural doctor from Audhata village, said, "On Friday afternoon, we locked our house and iron gate to attend a family invitation. Early Saturday morning, we received a call informing us that our house door was open. Returning quickly, we found three locks broken and the steel wardrobe inside pried open. The burglars made off with BDT 1.5 lakh in cash, nearly 4 bhoris of gold ornaments, and valuable items."

On the same night, the gang broke into the homes of expatriates Tapan Paul and Subal Paul in the neighboring house using the same method, stealing around 22 bhoris of gold ornaments, BDT 4.5 lakh in cash, and other valuables.

Additionally, in Kongai village of Gallai Union, the gang broke the collapsible gate and door locks of expatriate Kawsar's brick house at Samgazi's residence, looting around 5 bhoris of gold jewelry and BDT 5 lakh in cash.

Chandina Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nuruzzaman stated, "None of the residents were home when the incidents took place. Upon receiving the news, we dispatched police officers to the scene. Legal action will be taken following an investigation."
