Jamayat Leader Dies of Dengue in Chandina
Deceased Haji Monirul Islam in Chandina

Haji Monirul Islam, a leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has passed away after contracting dengue fever in Chandina, Cumilla. He was 90 years old at the time of his death.

It was reported that alongside testing positive for dengue, Haji Monirul Islam suffered from cardiac complications. He passed away on Wednesday (September 16) at approximately 2:45 AM while undergoing treatment at Dhaka CMH.

Haji Monirul Islam was a resident of Biswas village under Chandina municipality. He served as the Secretary of the Chandina Municipality unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in 2002 and was currently serving as the Secretary for Ward No. 8 of Chandina Municipality Jamaat.

Professionally, he was a retired official of the Bangladesh Navy. He is survived by four sons, two daughters, and numerous well-wishers.

His funeral prayer (Janaza) was held on Thursday (September 17) at 10:00 AM at the Biswas Central Shahi Eidgah ground, after which he was laid to rest at his family graveyard.

Leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Cumilla North District, Chandina Upazila, and Municipality units expressed deep grief over the passing of Haji Monirul Islam.
