Even after 23 months of his disappearance in Cumilla's Chandina, 13-year-old teenager Jihad remains untraced. On the morning of October 19, 2024, he went missing along with his father's autorickshaw from the local Mohichail market.Jihad is the only son of Mohammad Ali, a poor resident of Hossainpur village under Chandina upazila. Failing to find any trace of their child for a long time, his parents are spending their days in deep grief. Distraught over losing his son, the father said that despite repeatedly going to law enforcement agencies in search of his son, no good news has been received yet.With a tearful voice, Mohammad Ali said, "There is no place in Cumilla where I haven't gone to search for Jihad. There is no news of him anywhere. The police said they are trying, but we don't see any progress." Expressing his frustration over not finding his son even after nearly two years despite filing a General Diary (GD) at the station, he is still waiting with high hopes for his son's return. He made an earnest appeal to the government for law enforcement to be more sincere in finding his only son.Regarding the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) Badiuzzaman, the police officer in charge of Chandina upazila, stated, "As the missing teenager Jihad does not use any mobile phone, it has become difficult to locate his current position. However, messages have been sent to all police stations across the country in search of the boy, and the police investigation is ongoing."
