A major four-vehicle pile-up involving a passenger bus, two HiAce microbuses, and a cement-laden truck occurred on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Chandina, Cumilla. Although the vehicles involved suffered extensive damage, all passengers miraculously escaped unharmed. The accident took place around 6:30 PM on Wednesday on the Chattogram-bound lane near Kutumbapur Government Primary School under Madhaiya Union of Chandina Upazila.According to local sources and the Eliotganj Police Station, the incident occurred when a speeding unidentified HiAce microbus suddenly slammed on its brakes in the Kutumbapur area. Consequently, an open truck carrying Crown Cement, another HiAce, and a St. Martin Paribahan passenger bus traveling closely behind collided into one another in a chain reaction. The high-impact collision severely crushed the front and rear ends of the vehicles.Immediately after the accident, traffic on the Chattogram-bound lane of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway was disrupted for a short period, leading to a long traffic gridlock. Upon receiving the news, police rushed to the spot and removed the damaged vehicles using an official wrecker, restoring normal traffic flow. Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Ashraf Uddin of Eliotganj Police Station stated that despite heavy damage to the vehicles, fortunately no passengers were injured, and prompt police action ensured full restoration of traffic on the highway.
