An arson attack was reportedly carried out at the Magura residence of former Bangladesh national cricket team captain and former Member of Parliament for the Magura-1 constituency, Shakib Al Hasan, on Wednesday night.
According to police, three to four unidentified individuals arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly set fire to the main iron gate on the southern side of the property before fleeing the scene.
Speaking to The Dhaka News, Magura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Al Mamun said, “A few individuals arrived on a motorcycle, set fire to the gate of the house, and left. However, the fire was brought under control within a short time.”
The OC also dismissed reports claiming that a bomb had been thrown at the residence, describing such allegations as false. He further confirmed that no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify those responsible for the attack.
