Government Came to Power Through the People's Mandate: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and the Prime Minister's Adviser on Political and Industrial Affairs, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, has said that the current government came to power not by force, but through the people's mandate secured via a free, fair, and impartial election.

He made these remarks as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the "Five Lakh Trees in Five Years Nationwide" and "One Child, One Tree-2026" programs, organized by the Agriculturists Association of Bangladesh (AAB), held at the premises of the Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) in Savar on Tuesday morning, July 7.

At the event, chaired by AAB convener agriculturist Dr. Kamruzzaman Kaiser, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku and Dhaka-19 constituency MP Dr. Dewan Mohammad Salahuddin spoke as special guests.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the current government is working to fulfil the aspirations of the people and is committed to establishing good governance, adding that no one who commits crimes will escape accountability under this government. He further said that the tree-planting program undertaken by AAB, under the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to protect the environment and enhance climate resilience, will play an important role in building a green, livable, and environment-friendly Bangladesh for future generations.

In his special guest remarks, State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said that when elections are held fairly, the people of the country vote for BNP, believing that the country and democracy are safest in BNP's hands.

He said there are two hostile forces in Bangladesh  one opposed to the Liberation War, and the other implicated in the 2024 genocide  and that the people see BNP as the democratic political force standing against them.

Criticizing various statements directed at BNP, Tuku said that those who themselves lost public support and were driven out of the country are now talking about removing BNP from politics, but a BNP that believes in the strength of the people cannot be removed from this country.

He further said that, like martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has also become a symbol of trust for the people of the country, who believe that democracy will grow stronger under his leadership.

The two-part event began with the inauguration of the five-lakh tree-planting program at 10:00 AM. This was followed at 12:00 PM by the launch of the "One Child, One Tree" program at Savar Dairy Farm High School premises, where sapling were distributed among students.

Earlier, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku visited the Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm in Savar.

culturist Shahadat Hossain Biplob, was also attended by Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) Chairman and Krishak Dal Central President agriculturist Hasan Zafir Tuhin, Faridpur-4 constituency MP and Krishak Dal General Secretary Shahidul Islam Babul, along with local political leaders, agriculturists, and representatives from various levels.
